I just wanted to mention my favorite kilt maker, Angus Harvey. He is a great guy with an amazing talent for handmade kilts. He makes casual, 5-yard, 8-yard, and Great Kilts, and all are fairly priced. Not only that, he hand makes shirts, doublets, belts, and sporrans. Check him out at www.angusharveykiltmaker.com.

beloitpiper,
His prices do seem reasonable. I would love to see a few pictures of the kilts Angus has made. I am especially interesting in seeing what the pleating on one of his 5-yard kilts looks like.

Next time I wear it I'll be sure to take some photos.

Cool, he is the kilt maker at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. We are heading up there this weekend. A great place to spend the day. We were there on closing weekend last year and did not get by his shop until very late in the day. I only got a chance to peek in before we had to get the kids in the car to head home. Going to spend some quality looking at his stuff this year. I will snap some pics.

That's where I got my first kilt from. I usually go to the faire a few times every summer. I was there last weekend. Played my pipes for him a bit. He's a great guy, and might knock a few bucks of a purchase if you talk kilts with him a bit...

If I remember correctly, he is from the metro Detroit area. I was at his booth two years ago at the Michigan Ren. Fest.. I bought my belt from there..
I have yet to meat the man him self. I need to call him to see about getting my kilt repaired.. I have emailed him multiple time with no response.. I figure when I get serious about it I'll just call him..

Well, I met with angus this weekend and he was very nice. His kilts looked very nice, and I may own one shortly. The quality looked top-notch, and all hand sewn.
And he does live somewhere in MI. He mentioned the place, but I am drawing a blank. He said it was like the third largest boating community (he is on a lake) in the US. Although he also said he does not like boats!
I will post some pics of his stuff tomorrow, and some more info.
