| | | Badges on the jacket lapels?
Hi guys. I was wondering if any of you wear badges, medals or anything else on the lapels of your jacket?
If so - in what sort of situations? Just daywear, formal, semi-formal or whatever?
and what sort of badges?
Sorry for the pile of questions  I was considering wearing a small saltire badge from a charity I support on the lapel of my Argyll to a semi-formal event.

The only "rule" regarding the wearing of badges on your lapel is this:
Only one badge (or button, or rosette) should be worn, and it should be worn in the left lapel either in the button hole, or where a button hole would be if there isn't one.
It is perfectly acceptable to wear a pin of this sort on day wear or semi-formal attire.

Generally speaking and this is, I notice, getting a wee tad old fashioned here in the UK, but the answer is, never! Apart from a red poppy at the appropriate time of year. Your tie and your tartan tells people enough about you, at a glance, without any help from any other bauble.

Sometimes, on day wear, I pin my Robertson cap badge in the chest pocket rather than in the lapel.

When wearing a jacket and tie of any sort, I almost always wear a small pin showing the Eagle Globe and Anchor that says "Proud Parent of a US Marine"

I take it that Marines consider themselves brothers in arms the world over!
Can the same can be said for US Navy Seals and the likes of the SBS and SAS, folks?

Bruce | You do realize that your question and my answer could start WW3! 
I am not actually sure of the history of the US Marine Corps, but at a guess they copied----could see the sense of-----Our Royal Marines,SAS,SBS. As my now retired son says," everyone else has Marines we(Britain) have Royal Marines"! As I understand it the SAS/SBS has had an input into training special forces from all over the world including the USA. In this part of the world we are proud of the fact that the Commandos(RM) trained many Americans for special operations in WW2. There is huge respect all around the globe for these special, tough and brave men from whichever country they come from.
