| | | Barbour Country Neckwear
Hello gents,
I am in the process of ordering a Barbour necktie in either the "flying mallard" or "sitting pheasant" design and am trying to decide on what color to order first. They tend to come in dark brown, mid-brown (tan), gold (yellow), red, red wine (burgundy), olive, and navy colors. They are very smart looking ties and I think will pair quite nicely with one of my check shirts and naturally, with my new fawn/lovat green diced Balmoral, which should be arriving very soon. I was curious if any of you already owned the mentioned necktie, or something similar, and what you think of it. I realize that it's only a tie, but I do love how they look with country/shooting attire, and think they would look just as smart with Highland daywear. Thanks gents!
Slainte,

Generally speaking I wear one of the following ties:
Royal Scots Club tie, Bentley Drivers Club tie (to car events), a black bow tie, or a white bow tie. Oh, and I almost forgot. I sometimes wear a tie in MacMillan hunting tartan with a tweed suit.
I never worry about the tie matching anything, in the same way I wouldn't worry about my tie matching anything if I was an Archer (you have to see an Archer's tie to understand this last bit).

i guess the real question is "Do you hunt pheasants or ducks?"
I think burgundy, gold, or olive green would go with about anything "tweedy".
I picked up a nice country tie with embroidered Pointers from Ben Silver during their Warehouse Sale this year, so check out their website sometime, as well.
Cordially,
David

I need to check out the Archer's tie. I assume you are speaking about the Queen's bodyguard whilst in Scotland? My chief, Cluny-Macpherson, and his son, James Brodie Macpherson, are both Royal Archers. They've got quite an impressive bonnet!!! | | | X Marks Advertisers | | For Quality Scottish Made Products at Affordable Prices | | | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
