I like the fly plaid and I just bought myself a new drummers plaid at a highland games I was at (don't tell the other pipers in my band) I think they look sharp. As far as looking fussy,.... well.. Come on ..Doesn't the whole thing look a bit fussy???

Yes the fly, or drummers plaid does look very fussy, unless you are a member of a pipe band. It is just overdoing things, just that bit too much. Brash ,some would consider it to be.

Fly Plaids are just one way the MAN sells more accessories.
Kind of like the high street shops selling belts with kilt packages that don't need them.
