    MacDonald of Sleat, Matt Newsome

Today when I got home from work there was a package for me from The Scottish Tartan Museum, this could only mean one thing, my new Matt Newsome kilt had arrived. I ordered it in September as Matt had some specials on and I wanted a MacDonald Kilt to honour my Uncle's side of the family.

I ripped open the box and ran upstairs to try it on, it fits perfectly and I am very happy with the kilt, anyone who knows Matt's work can appreciate the care and workmanship that goes into his kilts, and this one is no exception, the wonderful thing about having a kilt hand-sewn for you is that you are almost positive it will fit perfectly when you get it, and the pride of ownership is something that goes beyond any off the rack kilt. I will wear it to my Scottish Country Dancing class tonight, so far everyone has had only good things to say about the Ulster Red Box Pleat that I purchased from Woodsheal.

I have paired up the kilt with my new Arran Sweater from Hector Russell, my Hawick Argyll top hose from Redshanks and my Thorfinn Sporran with matching MacDonald of Sleat tartan flap, I think my Uncle would be proud.

    Here are some pictures

Here is the trek to the bench, even with this much snow it was still warm enough for a 4 yard box pleat today.

Thanks Again Matt for a wonderful kilt.

Warm enough for a boxpleat! I was 5C today. Nice kilt I wish Matt could've mailed yours and mine together. Then again it's no garantee I would gotten mine sooner (and unworn).

Glen, your smile says it all.

So, one more left for you on the Matt Newsome Jones-train.
