Well I'm no longer a double Joneser I'm just waiting for one Newsome now, then again I'm also waiting on a Tewksbury.

What's the Jones thing about? I've seen it in the postings but never got around to ask.

Jones, or "jonesing", is a phrase used when someone wants something now, and can't wait. I believe my wife calls IGS (Instant Gratification Syndrome)

Thanks for that Jake S. We have an expression similar here "Keeping up with the Jones' " which means for example, if the next door neighbour got a certain type of car, you'd have to match it.

We have that same expression here in the States, but I don't think the two are related.

The type of Jones spoken of here is not quite the same thing. Though I guess I may be trying to keep up with the McMurdo.

Jake | I believe it is a slang word that junkies use when they need a fix and can't get it as in 'I'm jonesing for some smack."

Maybe a servant's name was Jones and when a rich person wanted something they would call "Jones!!"........probably not.
