Hi. New member here and was going through back posts to see what kinds of things were posted about. I came upon McMurdo's post where he mentioned that wiki was not 100%. Man has he got that right. Here is a wiki excerpt concerning Highland dress:
Kilt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Styles of kilt wear
Today most Scotsmen see the kilt as formal dress or ceremonial dress. For Scotsmen, the kilt is usually worn with a Prince Albert or an Argyll jacket. Irishmen on the other hand commonly wear the Brian Boru or the Kilkenny jacket with the kilt. They are often worn at weddings or other formal occasions, while there are still a few people who wear them daily. The kilt is also used for parades by groups such as the Scouts, and in many places the kilt is seen in force at Highland games and pipe band championships as well as being worn at Scottish country dances and ceilidhs.
A Prince Albert???????????? Give me break. Just thought you might be as amused by it as I was. I swear, I didn't make that up. You can check the site for yourself. Slainte.

It brings up the ancient crank call question:
Do you have Prince Albert in a can??
(store-owner)--YES.
--You'd better let him out!

I feel your pain brother. I have two different kiltmakers either working on or queued up with two different handmades right now---Barb with a handmade in 16oz Maple Leaf queued and another actively being worked on by a new kiltmaking member of our forum, who shall remain nameless until the project and my review are completed (we have an arrangement), another 8yd handmade in 16oz Forrester Hunting. Anxious to see which will arrive first and become my official first handsewn tank. Worse than that is that I am ready to pull the trigger on yet a third kilt, the very special Ancient Red Douglas in 16 oz, a special weave, which will be machine sewn rather than hand just because of the deal I got on it from one of our sponsoring vendors. Then I still have 16oz custom weave fabric for an Allen 8 yd on a shelf waiting to enter Barb's queue for a Kingussie sometime later this year, after I catch up on the finances of all the others. Luckily most of them have already been paid for or at least the money set aside. I think i shall be in perpetual jones for the remainder of 2009 and likely into early 2010.
Here is hoping yours comes out alright in the end, and that you are not just happy but ecstatic with your kilts. I like the burns check but just don't think it would look particularly good on my large frame. Posted reviews and pictures are a must. Have you had any updates in the last few weeks? Keep us up to date so we can share your jones.

I think that this calls for the formation of a new traditional form of dress.
So, who wants to design a prince Albert jacket? What would one look like?
