I actually love the look of a drummer's plaid. I discussed it with my lass, and she requested the fly plaid instead. A drummers plaid would also cover up some details I'm considering for my doublet.

Actually looks like a Victorian-era antique.

Oops, actually I don't, my girlfriend has it right now.
Echo Dale's advice. I have one of Mike's rings with the lion rampant. He does good work and is a nice, honest fellow.

He has yet to respond to my emails. I only had a somewhat limited time to jump on the antique piece my lass really liked, or decide on the custom one, but with two weeks, two emails and no response I had to assume he wasn't interested. I'll post up pics when the antique brooch comes though.

Here is one that is similar to the one posted earlier in this thread. Search for "plaid brooch" on ebay, some of them are stunning.
e-bay is wonderful! Just won an Edinburgh hallmarked celtic cross brooch for £14.55 GBP!. At 1.25" dia. it's too small for a plaid, but should make a great kilt pin...

Well, the antique brooch came, and I have to say, I like it much more in person.

It's got some age related flaws that don't really translate to pics, but really add to the overall look. my bride loves it because the gold color matches some jewelry she has, and the subtle gold cues in her dress. It was a pretty good deal, considering I'll likely never wear a fly plaid again.
