From the sewing room...

Greetings all, September 28, 553pmMST

Thought you all might like to see my latest creations. This Argyll, waistcoat and bonnet are made from a piece of Shetland wool tweed I picked up on eBay. The buttons come from "Three Feathers Pewter" in Ohio.

It took me about two months, working on the project here and there to get it all complete.
I made the jacket from Simplicity pattern #5029, and the waistcoat from McCall's pattern #2447.

Like when you buy a jar of storebought pizza sauce, you have to "doctor it up" to make it really edible. I did some alterations to both patterns to come up with the end result.

I realize that typically the jacket is worn unbuttoned, but of the pix my beloved took, this shows the full view of it in the existing light, etc.

Fide et Fortitudine, aye!

Well, what can I say, that is absolutely wonderful, I only wish I had the talent, wear them all well.

Nice job! I googled "simplicity pattern 5029" but what came up wasn't a man's jacket. Is that the correct pattern number?

Those are fabulous. I have yet to tackle a jacket from scratch and you have certainly set the bar!
