    Summer in High River, Alberta

Well friends, here it is. A beautiful summer day in High River. And 8 months to the day of ordering my Newsome Box pleat (now there's a "jones!") it arrives. After a little pressing, grabbing some things out of the closet here's my first contemporary, traditional summer classic photo on the Forum.

Shirt: pale blue on sale at Marks, $15.
Belt: On sale at the The Bay, $11.99.
    Sporran: L&M factory "second", $25.00
Hose: Gaelic Themes, $25.00 (from Freedom Kilts)
XMTS kilt pin and dandelion, a generous welcome gift from Steve Ashton presented to me on the porch of Freedom Kilts in Victoria, BC. We had a fabulous visit. A fine, fine gentleman he is.

Kilt: Wilsons of Bannockburn Robertson Red, Newsome Boxpleat, Priceless.
Now let's see if it all pastes in. First time doing the photobucket thing.

    Happy summer, friends!
    David

Looks great, I was just thinking I needed a red kilt, box pleated! Good job.

Looking good! The kilt looks like it fits you to a "t" and you are wearing it well. Are those the same hose in all photos? In the first they look lovat blue and in the second photo almost grey.

    Hi Matt,
Same hose. Lovat Blue. What's amazing about this tartan, is that the "navy-like" blue threads crossing the red cloth, give a purple look, even though there is no purple in the tartan! Great Dalgliesh cloth! Yup, fits terrifically. Kudos to you, Matt.

Very nicely done, especially considering the price tag!

My only few gripes would be that the belt could use to be a bit wider, a sporran strap will protect your kilt from chain-snags, and your hose need flashes or, even better, garters - maybe in yellow to go with the dandelion?

But those are really fairly nitpicky things - you're looking good AND cool (in every way)!

Yes Cygnus, I agree. I have a wider belt, too uncomfortable. Garters are ordered (but back-ordered at the moment). And I have a sporran strap on the way too. So that will fix those nitpicky things! I think we're thinking along the same lines! Except the yellow garters. Hmmmm. Cheers.

Nice work on the bargain hunting. You're a man after my own heart! Where did you find an L&M 'second'?
