Wow ! I've just bought a replica Gordon Highlanders army kilt from What Price Glory and I'm in seventh heaven. It cost $295 and It really is authentic in every detail. In fact I went to a living history fair at the week-end where I had the chance to compare it to a 'real' army kilt and I couldn't tell the difference, even in the small details like straps and buckles. He has had the original 22oz material specially re-woven and boy is it thick. It's turned quite chilly here tonight but I am as warm as toast in this kilt and I can't wait to wear it to a bonfire party on Saturday night. The reason I wanted this kilt so badly was that I once had an old kilt made from this material given to me which was sadly too small for me. I despaired of ever having one of my own as I could never find an ex army kilt in my 46inch waist, so this really is a dream come true. In fact you can get them made over here in the UK but nowadays they would be in either 18oz (Regimental weight) or 16oz (Heavyweight) material, so this was my only chance of getting one in the proper old fashioned super heavyweight cloth. There are over 40 2.5inch pleats, all immaculately knife pleated 'to the stripe' and the overall standard of the kilt is first class (even if it is made in Pakistan !) and I hope the pictures I've posted do it justice. I'll post some more of me wearing it when I get some taken. I'm going to start saving now for one of his box pleated Mackenzie Seaforth kilts (my father's old regiment). However, my wife's tartan is Cameron, so I could get a Cameron Highlanders kilt in her honour - choices. choices

Just for comparison here's the old kilt I had. It was a civilian kilt but made from the same material.

This one is 25inches (although it actually measures 24.5inches - however most kilts I've foud don't come in exactly the stated size). I wanted one in 26inches, which would have been half an inch longer than my normal kilt measurement. However Jerry emailed to say that he didn't stock that size and I had the choice of 27inches or 25inches, and I thought that 27inches would be far too long ( even with a high rise). This one comes to just at the top of my kneecap, however when it's been worn a while it finds it's own level and drops slightly (must be my big belly!) so it's just the right length for me.
