If the bright green stripe offends the eye take a felt tip pen and colour it another darker shade.

The trouble with using a felt tip is you could end up with an odd color from the ink mixing with the green or, even worse, if you sweat the ink could come off on your shirt. I tried several types on scrap fabric similar the the band and it just doesn't work as well colorwise as using bias tape. If you aren't that good with a needle and thread you can put it on with a permanent fabric glue very easily.

Just stumbled over this thread and that's a great idea, Bubba.

I have practically the same kilt (Cameron of Erracht, Thom. Gordon & Sons from 1975) with that green band and always thought it looked kind of unfinished - I always covered it with a waistcoat, sweater or polo-shirt up until now. Those (also bright green) hanging loops are great though - I just fold my kilt in half inside out and hang it on a peg.

Looks like I'll be be doing some needlework this weekend!

Tried that and it looks crappy. The color tends to look off and those markers will stain a shirt if you get sweaty.

Ah - obviously we get different inks here in the UK - I have a red dot on a pale blue cuff which has been there for about twenty years and shows no sign of fading.

Thats the problem with making really good quality clothing, get a too obvious mark on it and you can lose a couple of decades wearing.
