    For books you could add

    Bloody Scotland by Terry Deary
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...663043-9294851

    Ireland by Terry Deary
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...663043-9294851

Cutthroat Celts also by Terry Deary
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...663043-9294851

They are History books for school kids under the Horrible histories titles...They are a lot of fun for adults too

    I'd also reccomend.

The Illustrated Enncyclopedia of Tartan By Iain Zaczek and Charles Phillips
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...663043-9294851

This book is worth it's money just for it's pictures alone

I would also add Great Scots! by Matthew Shaw. It doesn't deal with kilts in particular, but the start of each chapter has a kilted gent in a different tartan posing with regards to the topic.

Great Scots! is about the Scottish history of Canada. An excellent read.

David, I saw this volume whilst in Edinburgh last month but, because it deals with only 400 of the thousands of tartans, I didn't bother with it. Since then, I have read several good reviews of it and so have ordered it from Amazon, together with "Tartan, The Highland Textile" by James D. Scarlett. I expect to receive both together in late November.
