I'll take it to the serious side! (although, I like the first pict!)

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

This one was made for me in 1985 by a man who had a little shop in a basement off of the Royal Mile. As I recall the sterling silver trim was all of his design, and he did his own carving as well.

    Best regards,

    Jake

I'm not sure I like the first picture - it smacks of deliberate buffoonery.

Here's the sgian I had made for our wedding:

Inter spem curamque, timores inter et iras
Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum:
Grata supervenient, quae non sperabitur hora.

Here is my self made damascus, walrus ivory, and bayleen

Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

Then again, smacking is sometimes the best response for deliberate buffoonery...
