    Akubra revisited

A while ago there was a thread about headgear and I mentioned I was thinking about an Akubra. Well it's arrived and I'm still in two minds about wearing in it with a kilt, so over to you guys. I've posted a pic (which isn't very clear), what do you think?
I know you'll be honest but please spare my sensitive feelings

I'm biased, but I like it! It suits you and honestly, it doesn't look any worse than any other hat. I like a cap but in summer it doesn't protect me much from the sun so I wear Akubra's.

The hat looks fine, but I'm not into camo kilts myself

    Hi Rhino,

Hmmmn! I am glad that, with this post, you have explained what an Akubra is - I thought it was a form of anorak!!

You've asked for an honest opinion...... I think the hat suits you - but I don't think it goes with the Camo kilt (or maybe it's the T-shirt!). Perhaps in winter, with a jacket but somehow it's not working for me in your photo.

On the other hand, I am not a 'hat person'. I have several, from Russian fur to Panama, but I dislike wearing any of them, no matter what the weather conditions.

I guess I should not have responded to this in the first place!!

I have to pretty much echo Hamish's words. I am glad to learn what an 'Akubra' is. The hat suits you very well but doesn't go with the kilt, necessarily.

Funny that this topic should come up because not too long ago I was trying to make a brimmed hat go with my kilt and didn't seem to have any luck despite the fact that I look good in the hat otherwise.

I agree that the hat looks great but maybe the shirt doesnt go with the kilt. Just my opinion though.

    Rhino,

Great looking hat I do want to echo what the others have said, it looks out of place with what you are wearing, whether the shirt or kilt I do not know, it just does not look right.

I think the hat can go with the kilt, but it doesn't quite look right in your picture. My guess is that 1)the hat is too new and hasn't become part of you yet, and 2)there's a basic color clash in the combo you're wearing. The camo kilt needs something more "military" but the Akubura needs more of a country casual look. Stick with it Rhino, you'll find a combination that feels right to you and you'll just naturally project that sense of "rightness" to the people looking at you.

Rhino, I like the hat, it suits you, and will even moreso when its well broken in. I have to agree that it probably isn't exactly makin the picture with the camo kilt and t-shirt..

Your new hat becomes You. I would combine the Kilt with T-Shirt in a matching colour (light blue or white) and put it into the Kilt.

On the other hand I may have to get familiarize with the sight of a T-Shirt worn over the Kilt. If You realiy like to wear Your T-Shirt this way ... why not.

You ask for my thoughts. I am inexpertly with english but hope I wasn't brutal.
