An "American" belt buckle?

Had a thought as I was looking at belt buckles today.

There are some beautiful buckles out there, but only a few that really grab me...frankly, I'm not Scottish, with all due respect to those of you who are!

So...

Does anyone make a kilt belt buckle in any sort of American symbolism, or how would I go about modifying a buckle...or a belt...to fit something like this? (apologies for the size...this is the size on the website)

I've been wearing a modern replica of a US Army Officer's Beltplate from the Civil War era on a black leather belt for years now. It is a typical modern belt buckle that you could use on any 1 3/4" leather belt.

Taking that same concept for a kilt belt, my aim is to go to a civil war reenactor's vendor and get an actual historical replica of a belt and two piece beltplate (as the originals were) to wear with my kilts. That is a very interesting website and I like your idea of using the belt and federal buckle. Should work well in place of a standard kilt belt waist-plate and most appropriate considering your current location and line of work...

There are no rules about which belt buckle one should wear with civilian Highland attire. You are free to wear whatever belt/buckle combination you like. The only "rule" regarding belts and kilts is that in most circumstances belts should not be worn when a waistcoat is worn. So, in this instance, wear what pleases you the most.
