I found a site that sells them http://www.oatmealsavage.com/specials.ivnu, just turn down the sound on your speakers

. Nice looking sporrans though, but for the price I'd go with a Freelander sporran (http://home.c2i.net/kilted_1/public_html/main.html).

Thanks Dave, actually that is where I got the picture. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with them before I called David. They carry a hefty price...$295

, but they do look really nice.

I have also been considering the Freelander but the ones from Steve Harris have that beautiful carving....and cost almost twice as much...ouch.

As an independant crafter, I'd say buy one if you could. I am betting those took hours and hours to make, and he is probably barely getting anything in return after his supplies and what not.

Probably less than minimum wage per hours of work.

Points I hadn't thought of directly but what originally attracted me was a that it would be a piece that someone had put more than just time into. You can see there is definitely heart and soul in them.

When I make a hat and sell it for 20 bucks, it usually takes me all day or two days. About 5 bucks goes to yarn and another 2 bucks or so goes to paypal for the fees. I tend to make less than a dollar an hour.

Doing this has shed new light and appreciation on our esteemed kilt makers here, as well as our sporran makers and people who craft fine goods. In short and simple terms, they get gypped. And they don't have a lot of choice on the issue. Charge bare minimum or potentially lose a sale to imported sweatshop goods.

300 bucks is certainly worth paying on those sporrans if you can afford it.
