    Aran Sweaters, the perfect accessory

I have recently taken delivery of two beautiful Aran sweaters from our good friends at KiltStore, and I am thrilled with them - so thrilled that I have just ordered a third!

These sweaters are hardly inexpensive, but they are superbly hand-knitted by Scottish ladies working in their own homes - and they are mostly produced to order, so there is some jonesin' attached! I have waited since November for my two but the wait was well worth while. These are absolute works of art.

I ordered Navy Blue and Natural Black (which, I discovered later, is not jet-black but rather a slightly brownish, granite-like, charcoal grey) The third sweater just ordered is jet-black, but it is not normally available and could be produced for me only because one of the ladies had just enough wool to knit one for me!

These chunky Aran sweaters are just perfect for wear in the cool days of early Spring, through the Autumn and, on occasion, during the Winter months, and compliment the kilt perfectly.

    Here is my Navy Blue:

and this is the Natural Black:

Thank you Mrs. Petrie and Mrs. Martin, and the good folks at KiltStore.

    Hamish,

You are walking lesson in how to wear a kilt.
I have learned some much about kilt wearing from you.
    Thank you!

    BTW, the sweaters look smashing.

I have an Aran sweater that I love as well.

The trouble is Robin, we are jealous....

Hamish, I must compliment you on the sweaters. I am not really a "sweater person" (haven't worn a woolie pully since my army days) But I have to say, I really truly like the ones you are wearing. So much in fact I am now considering purchasing one for myself

Those are absolutely beautiful. And worth the money, I'd wager.
My fiance does Arran knitting and has promised me a sweater for our wedding.
Hopefully it'll be as beautiful as those.

Hamish, I'm so glad you posted those pictures. I got to pick out an Aran sweater for my birthday gift from wife and her parents earlier this year. The thing was for me I had to buy a large size because of my height, but because I'm thin the collar was the neck opening is quite big. I tried wearing a couple t-shirts under it,but didn't look right. Now that I've seen your collared shirts underneath your sweaters, that's what I'm going to try next. I'm sure I'll be able to find one that works.

I love the sweaters! Ive always wanted one, but living in Hawaii Id never ever get to wear the thing. So, until I move to a much cooler climate, I'll have to wait.
