    Argyle jacket colour

So I am planning on getting an all-purpose argyle tweed jacket and waistcoat. I have heard many say that charcoal is the way to go, but I am not sure if it would look good with brown leather accessories. Would it? I would usually dress semi-casual, with brown leather sporran and belt.

I know you want to match leather colours, does that apply to black and brown fabrics in general?

Charcoal tweed looks GREAT with brown leathers actually.

I'm afraid we need a range of colors in Argyll jackets, just as we do with kilt hose. I have a heather green and a heather grey and am looking at maybe a navy....but dang...they cost near as much as a kilt, but they sure do dress up a kilt. Since the weather turned a tad cooler have been wearing them to work and getting compliments - on the Argyll, not the kilt!

Charcoal grey goes with most colours & it dresses up nicely

Charcoal certainly goes with everything. A second choice would be lovat green (I think this goes with more kilts than lovat blue).

If you are only getting one, and want it to go with a lot of different wardrobe bits, get the grey. I have a black one because it is dressy, but it only really works with black belt, sporran, etc. I will eventually add more jackets, starting with a grey.

If what you want is to look really sharp, the black with gauntlet cuffs has just enough of the PC look without the rather less comfy cut of the full PC getup. That's what I went with and it looks grand.

I have a Charcoal Braemar jacket and waistcoat and would say that that is the way to go, when I get home I will try to get a picture of it with brown accessories. I also have a brown Harris tweed Argyll jacket, and while I feel it is a bit more casual than the charcoal it does work for a casual situation.

I'm picking up a jacket conversion today from the alterations place. I'll get some pix out with brown leathers later as well.

Just get multiple thrift store jackets and turn them into what you need...you could probably have multiple jackets converted by a professional for less than the cost of one "real" one.
