    Belt width?

I have a couple regular belts with good leather, but busted buckles. I was thinking of forging new buckles for them, and using one for my SWK when I get it. But, since it's not extra wide like usual kilt belts, will it work?

    A two-inch belt looks best.

For a kilt with the high waist like a stillwater I would agree that a 2" belt would be prefered. With the casual kiilts I wear I can get away with a 1.75" belt and maybe a 1.5". It keeps everything proportionate.

    Belts and Buckles

I just ordered a 2 1/2" belt from a company that is going to start making them for Utilikilts, but I just changed my order. In looking at my UK's, a 2 1/2 in. belt will partially cover the pockets, and I think I am going to have a hard time bending and moving. So I changed my order to a 2 inch belt, and besides it might be easier to find a buckle in that size. Hmmm, maybe I will have to see what you could make for me!

I've been thinking about making some sort of belt for a kilt. A commission might just get me to make the time to do it

I normally wear my chainmaille belt now, since my black belt broke, and it's not any more flexible than a leather belt when worn, so I don't think a wide belt will reduce your ability to move. of course, your point about the pockets remains.

I have a couple of nice thick leather and studded 3-inch belts that I wear with my traditional kilts. They're pretty awsome and I have no problem with bending, movement, etc. I personally like a very wide and substantial belt.

I agree with the others about a wider belt especially for the Stillwater kilts. I wear a 2 1/4" wide with my SWK's and a 2" wide (plain buckle) with my Amerikilts and Buzz Kidders.
