Best all purpose colors for hose/flashes?

With the weather turning colder, I'm in the market for some new hose and flashes.

I've already got oatmeal, grey, and cream.

What other "all purpose" colors would you all recommend?

I use red flashes more than any other color.

Hose? Depends on your kilts. You've got the basics...black is a good one to have on hand. Lovat blue and green are nice with many tartans.

My personal favorite "go to" hose colors are oatmeal and khaki for day use although some tartans demand a bit more color coordination. I alternate flashes to fit the tartan. Basic blue, green, yellow, or red flashes get the job done for most tartans.

I hope you two mean black hose and red flashes . . . though I suppose there are folks who can carry off the reverse. I'm fond of Hunter green flashes if there's green in the tartan or the shirt.

It really depends on the tartan, for example with the Isle of Skye I wear Purple hose, I really do not see me wearing them with any other tartan that I own, and with my Maple Leaf I wear Maroon hose that would not work with any other tartan, but generally speaking
Black works well with almost anything, Bottle green, Lovat blue and Lovat green are good choices as well for many tartans, if you want to get daring you could always go for Red hose though they are not for the faint of heart. As for flashes, I would say check out the traditional garter ties at the Scottish Tartan Museum, they are very comfortable and come in a lot of colours that lend themselves to many different tartans.

With what you already have, I would suggest some green hose and red flashes. That should flesh out your choices nicely.

The only choice I can see is pure white hose and off white flashes.

Where did you pick up the maroon hose? I'm waiting for my maple leaf from CCK and want to start looking at accessory options.
