Best color of hose for a black watch kilt

    Hi gang,

What color hose do you think looks best with a black watch traditional wool kilt?

Black? Off white? Dark Green? Pink with little blue hearts?

Just polling the group for your favorites because I'm thinking of investing in some expensive hand knitted wool hose.

    Thanks for your advice!

    Pete

If they are being hand knit would black be a good choice because it will work with more tartans?

I tend to match the hose I wear to the color of the shirt and leathers that I am wearing. As such tan and brown sox accenting brown leathers and a neutral shirt can look very good with the Blackwatch. The Blackwatch tartan is already so dark, that I like to lighten it up a bit.

When I wear my Black Watch tartan kilt, I wear kilt hose that match the shirt I'm wearing, which matches one of the 3 colors in the Black Watch - black, dark blue or lovat green.

Just my personal preference, but I'd never wear off-white with the Black Watch.

I think it all depends on the occasion, time of day etc...

Bottle Green, Black, or Cream Hose should all look fine; I think it all depends on the occasion, time of day etc...

I am sure you could even get away with Lovat Green or Oatmeal colored hose.

I think I am with almost everyone else and tend to match the shirt I am wearing. Usually dark green or dark blue.

I'd go with black, dark blue, or bottle green in that order. Depending on the shirt of course. I usually wear my Stillwater Heavyweight with a black sweater so it't the black hose.
