Boots .. continued

I'd personally go for the darker pair and experiment with pushing the hose down. However I'm in doubt as those boots you have are a little taller an plain ankle boots...What do Hamish say "It's all about balance"

I think I would go with the darkest set, especially with that sweater. It seems to coordinate very well.

I'd personally prefer the darker pair, I think they match up to the Sporran better (wasn't there a thread about that a few months ago?). But if you like the lighter ones, I see nothing wrong with it.

I saw Charlie Zahm at the Richmond games this past weekend. He was wearing Ghillies this time, but in the past I've seen him wear a dark colored calf length moccasin type boot which looks really great with his kilts.

I like the darker pair. Although, I would probably match it with kilt hose the same color as the sweater. Sharp looking.

I have never ever been bothered at all about what to wear when it comes to my jeans/pullovers/trainers or cords/sweatshirts/boots, colour co-ordination and for that matter, even how I look in them. I'll just chuck it all on and go out. I still do it today. However its a totally different matter when wearing my Cilt. Guess all you guys know what I mean.

Derek, my choice would be for the darker boots.
I do however have a dislike of light coloured socks but like the boots they look ok on you.

I am generally that way, even in kilts. I know what looks good/bad and might choose a colour of sock depending on the kilt I'm wearing but I don't seem to care as much as most of you. I did for a while, then I got over it.

I like the white runners, but I'd push the socks down, unless it was very cold. The darkest runners look most like what a lot of us wear; work/hiking boots. But I think we are choosing what looks best based on what we are used to, instead of taking a hard look and viewing the runners as an alternate style that works.
It's always so hard to get over what we're used to!

Derek, of the three, if you're going to do off-white hose, the white shoes look best. But, my personal preferences are for dark colored boots, when I'm wearing something that's taller than the bottoms of my ankles. So, I'd switch to either black or gray hose. Another option is the olive green hose that's in the Sock Company Country catalog... Would also make your flashes show up better...

Too true, Derek! You know me well!

I have been studying all three of your photos (time, by the way, you got your camera back!!!) and my choice, with the darker (khaki?) sweater, would be the darkest of the three boots.

The very light boots with your very light hose intrigue me, and they work so well together - but not (I'm afraid) with the dark sweater!! Next summer will be the time to wear them and with a light-coloured shirt, or top of some sort, to balance the visual. Too much 'dark' above with too much 'light' below makes one look top heavy!! But you didn't hear me say that .............!!!

As for rolled-down hose: I have never known you to do that and, to be honest, I'm not sure that it would work with the soft boots. It works most effectively with heavy-looking, leather boots, but not with shoes and I suspect your boots are not quite heavy-looking enough either. Do try it though and I am sure you will know whether you are comfortable with the 'look'.
