    Boots and Socks

I have a great pair of Mil-Spec all weather boots that I wear for casual dress, but I'm not sure what sort of socks to wear. Black is about all I know. Should the socks come up some over the boot, or should they truncate with the boot, leaving my sexy legs more visible :-D

I wear a pair of black steel-toe boots with white/black socks (doesnt really matter to me), but the socks do stop where the boot stops. You might be able to see the socks a little but not really.

right now I have on a pair of maroon socks rolled and pushed down to the top of the boots I'm wearing (brown Herman Suvivors). After retiring from the military I try to stay away from just plain white or black socks as much as I can. Go with what ever you want but I recommend keeping it in co-ordination with the kilt you are wearing.

I tend to go with kilt hose with a traditional kilt if I'm wearing boots. Especially if I'm wearing my black Docs. They look more proportionate if the socks are up @ the knees. I know that Hamish might think I'm strange, but I just don't like the look of rolled down socks with boots and a kilt. Maybe with shorts, but not a kilt.

When donning the casual "boots-with-kilt" look, I note that most guys go with full 8" high boots. Why not the lower "chukka" or hiking-boot style? I find that to be a much more comfortable height of boot to wear, especially if any amount of walking is involved....

I'm with you there. I'm shooting a sporting tourney next week in kilt, chuckers & hose. Probably fold the hose down. I like the look well enough to get a dressier pair od chukka boot.

I have two pairs of Blundstones, black and brown, which I wear with either kilt hose or rugby socks. I wear the socks up for more dressed look, with tartan, or scrunched down for a more casual look, with my black denim Rkilt.
Carry on as if you knew what you were doing, and you were in you're right state of mind.

The past two weekends have been warm when my wife and I went to an outlet complex shopping and then took my mother-in-law out and about. I went with my kilt, light-colored polo and a pair of low hikers with 12" hiking socks pushed down. Casual look with the benefit of more breeze. I'm still on the prowl for good chukka or 6" boots in brown and black -- the challenge is finding a style I like that comes in W-I-D-E width.
I must be Scottish - just look at my calves.
