    Bought direct from Marton Mill?

I'm waiting on a response from Marton Mills on some Fraser Red PV. I'm wondering if anyone has already been down this road and could give me an idea about what to expect in regards to pricing and communication. It's not a kilt project so the jones is not quite as intense but when I get an idea in my head I like to run with it as fast as possible.

I ordered Tartan material a little over a year ago from Marton Mills. They had the material in stock already, so it did not have to be woven. MM were very good in the communication department, with most of my e-mails answered within 24 hours. I did phone them to place the order and they were very helpful and friendly. I know prices have gone up slightly since I ordered, but with exchange being what it is, they are still a very good deal.
I was very happy with my transaction and I love my kilt that I made from the material.
    Good luck with your order,
    Sara

Never dealt with MM directly and was not aware that that was an option from their website.

Scotweb has the same Fraser (red) fabric in 11oz MM poly-viscose at $12.55US per yard double width, as they are currently having a 20% off tartan fabric sale through April 1. But, unless you are ordering a significant length the shipping is likely to kill the deal---over a certain amount and shipping option becomes free for the slow surface route.

They also have good prices on the 16oz wool ($25US for DW yard) and 13oz wool ($26US for DW yard) if wool would be preferable for your purposes.

You can order swatches from them too!

MacHummel gave me the e-mail of his contact at Marton Mills. I e-mailed her with a request for getting Sackett in PV. She responded within 1-2 business days with what they needed, there were a couple of more e-mails (again usually answered within 1-2 business days) to work out the payment details, then the wait while the tartan was woven, and e-mails to let me know that the fabric had shipped.

If you want, I could dig up the address from my old e-mails for you.

I've found them to be very helpful - did require a few email exchanges to set up payment accounts, but they are really fast in delivery. Also - I was a bit concerned when they said they were going to ship via something other then Royal Mail, but I haven't had any incidents with brokerage fees, etc. Their packages have arrived right in my mailbox in very speedy fashion. And quite remarkable packages they are! Bolt of tartan wrapped in heavy clear plastic!

Thanks everyone! Wompet, yeah, if you can find the contact I'd like to have it. Please PM me with it. If it's MIA, no worries.

PM sent. It was easy enough to find - all kilt related e-mails have their own folder in the Inbox.

You might want to check with Steve (TheWizardofBC) given all the problems he had with the last XMTS tartan run. He should know the best people to talk with at MM.
