    Brass sporran?

I found something referred to as a brass sporran on eBay. Is it really a sporran? The description even makes reference to a "pass through" on the back for the strap. It's 3.5 x 5 x 1.5 inches and very interesting but it can't really be a sporran, can it?

Looks like something that my grandfather kept matches in close to the fire place.

Ouch, is all I can think of. You'd have to have a pair of brass ones for that, I think.

When someone speaks of a "brass sporran," I would assume they meant a brass cantled sporran, like this one:

I'm not really sure what that item on Ebay is. I'm sure it's an antique, and I'm sure it's very lovely, but I'm sure it is not a sporran.
