    Buying a Montrose Doublet

Sometime within the next year, I plan on buying a Montrose doublet. I've looked around the net for merchants that sell them to your measurements, but does anyone have any suggestions on where to get one of decent to excellent quality?

I had a wonderful experience dealing with Scottishkilts.net when I bought my tweed Argyle. Check out their selection. http://scottishkilts.net/store/scottish_jackets.html

You don't say where you are located, Nick. For the best fit you really need to be measured by the tailor. Self-measuring, as with the kilt, is not bad (as a rule), but I'd get to the tailor if at all possible.

My recommendation: Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. I recently had them make me a GT Doublet - similar to the Montrose but it is single, rather than double, breasted - and it is absolutely the bee's knees; it's wonderful.

    That is sharp, Hamish!

Unfortunatley, being avaliable to the tailor is impossible. I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, which is cut off from, well, everything. As far as I know, there aren't any tailors who could make me one withing a couple hundred mile radius, though I may be wrong. I could have my measurements taken at a local tux place, to make sure they're accurate, though.
