Glen, you always seem to put together the perfect outfits, and that cape is stunning.

OMG!!!
I put the button holes on the same side as my husband's bridge coat that was hanging in the room. The Navy must be confused. Send it back, and I'll fix it for you.
Take care.

Woo Hoo Christmas in July.

It's nice to have a Balmoral that actually fits, now it's just the waiting for the X-Marks Clan Badge.

The Burns Check Braemar is a nice piece that I just happened upon but I thought why not try for it, and sure enough I won the auction so was happy about that.

As for the Inverness Cape I've wanted one for some time but with the price of Harris Tweed I was almost resigned to wait until I one thew lottery, that was until vmac3205 came along, the Cape really is wonderful as the photos will attest my only complaint is that the buttons are on the wrong side I'm used to my buttons being on the right and these are on the left, but I suppose it will just take some getting used to. I do absolutely love the Crimson lining, I think it just looks wonderful, thanks again vmac3205.

If you don't mind first I'll see if my Aunt can do it thus saving shipping charges etc.

That's fine with me. If she can't though, be sure to return it. I just found out that Navy Bridge Coats button from either side. Whodathunk? Boy, do I feel stupid.

Victoria, I always have to think about/visualize it, but I was taught that the tradition of men's wear buttoning that way came from a predominantly right-handed, weapons-carrying society. The right-handed guy needs to be able to reach in and grab his dirk/sword/whatever. Women's wear buttons the opposite because they didn't allow us to protect ourselves well, maybe that's a modern interpretation!

Your bridge coat sounds like another modern interpretation, allowing lefty males to function in a military setting.
