Clan Graham Shirt and Print from the STM

Today as I'm feeling better I thought I'd finally take some pics of the Clan Graham shirt I ordered from the Scottish Tartan Museum. I think this shirt matched with the Graham of Menteith kilt will be perfect for Highland Games in the summer. I also decided to order the Graham, and Stewart RR McIan Prints, as my Mom is a Stewart and My Dad's Clan, and consequently my Clan is the Graham Clan. Thanks again Matt, I just have to find the correct frame for these prints.

That was what I was thinking, as I have both the Graham and the Stewart, I'd like to put one on either side of the Burns print. The problem is the Burns print is about 100 years old, it was recently given to my by my aunt, so matching the frame exactly has thus far been problematic. I will however continue the search.

Any top of the line framer can do a museum match of frame on the Burns print, but in my opinion that would be a mistake. What you want to do is match the colour of the matting and have the framer come up with a complimentary gilt frame. The best way to do this is to take the Burns print along with you when you go to get the McIan's framed. Oh, and just in case you are contemplating buying more of the McIan prints, you might want to make sure your framer can get more of the frame molding he uses on your prints.

That is a very good idea, I will most likely do just that, I did want a professional to look at the Burns print anyway as it needs some attention.

Since moving to the USA I've been having all of my "old" prints removed from their frames, the glass cleaned on both sides, and the prints backed with acid free paper. Likewise I've had the original mats backed with acid free paper. My framers then clean the original frame and carefully put everything back together. Because I've got a fair number of prints to be "remounted" (over one hundred) I get a "group rate", but even without that, the cost would be about the same as ordinary framing. Your Burns print has obviously become a family heirloom and is well worth conserving for future generations. You might want to consider affixing a label on the back giving the details of the family history of the print.

From what I can see of your Burns print it looks to be in good condition, and should definitely be hung in pride of place.

I'll be seeing about doing that as well, there is a framer that I used a few years ago, when I was employed with an ad agency, I'll have to see about re-connecting with them.

Awesome Glen! Definitely super-duper-games wear. And, I'm envious of that Burns print in mention. I'm inspired to find a nice Burns print to hang in my office.
