    Clasp for flash holder strap.

I’m looking for a source for the clasps that are used on the below flash straps. The problem that I have is that I can’t seem to find the right combination of words to let google find what I’m looking for.

I have no idea where I purchased the original flashes that these came on as I have had them for several years. They have outlasted several elastics, being sewn on to a new piece every year or so.

I like them better than velcro because as the elastic stretches out, it allows for adjustment, and the strap then lasts longer. I have also tried the kind of connectors that are sold in Joanne’s for women’s bras, but they aren’t as sturdy. These also go together with no big bump or protrusion to stick up through the sock.

In the picture, one strap is open and the other is closed.

Has anyone seen these for sale, or do you know what the fastener would be called?

Connector? Fastener? Clasp? Closure? Hook and eye? Buckle? Catch?

What the heck are they called?

You should try a fabric store such as hancocks... it almost looks like a suspender strap and clasp.

I tried them - and every other fabric store around my area..... no joy.

There's supposed to be a big commercial one somewhere in the garmet district of L.A. which I may get to someday..... They are also supposed to have tartan wools???

Well think of the fine adventure and the interesting post as you keep us enthralled with your search and eventual discovery of the elusive hose clasp.

    Flashesq

In the UK they are known as garters. Most shooting and outdoor shops stock them both with and without the flashes.

Here, too (at least by Boy Scouts, though they wear stockings instead of hose ).

Jay, I think Sport Kilt uses those fasteners on their tartan flashes.

All of the flashes I have bought over the years use Cummerbund clasps. (Which yours could very well be a different looking variety!) You can buy them at a fabric store for less than $2.00.

Suspender clips. Garter clips. Google either takes me to ladies garters or braces when I search those terms. But that's what they're called.

Hey, I think I'm closer. I went to Sport Kilts site, and the clasp on the flash garter in the picture does indeed look like the same thing.

And yes, thje whole elastic thing that holds the flash can be called a garter, but I was looking for the metal clasp that holds the garter together.

    I'll drop him an e-mail.
