Cleaning a Spot on a Fur Sporran

Hello, X-Markers;

I've recently noticed that I have a spot on the rabbit fur of one of my formal sporrans. Does anyone know how I can clean this off? I don't know what sort of stain it is, but I suspect that it is a food or wine stain.

Thanks for any assistance.

I think it's in the DYI section, but just yesterday people posted advice on conditioning fur sporrans. Cornmeal and 'borax' were mentioned. Myself, I am not going to try the borax until I get an answer about which exact compound is being recommended- the danger is a common language in countries where the same terms have different meanings.

Ah, I rarely go into the DIY's forum. Thanks for the heads-up.

Try a mild shampoo... dab the spot with a damp cloth first, then put a tiny drop of shampoo on the damp cloth, suds it up, and apply it to the spot. Let it sit for a few seconds and the carefully wipe it off with another damp cloth, repeating until you've got all of the shampoo off the fur. Blot up any remaining moisture and let it air dry.

Anybody consider asking another rabbit how they get rid of spots on their fur?

Reminds me of the old George Carlin bit about giving his cat a bath. . .
