Color options on hose flashes
I have a Gordon modern trad coming, and matching tartan hose flashes. I only have charcoal kilt hose at present. If I want to wear them, or Navy, with the kilt, the tartan flashes will sort of disappear in all the darkness. I do plan to get green and off-white hose, but would like to use the dark as well.
Any suggestions on contrasting hose flashes that won't clash with the Gordon? Yellow is the only light color in the tartan. I've thought of a muted or darker red, but dare not go thre w/o first consulting the community.

You could always get tartan flashes.
Those are my preference if possible.

Keeping to the colors of the tartan, with the darker hose, the yellow is the only color option that will really contrast. You could certainly use the other colors, but they will tend to blend with the color of the hose.
Lighter colored hose would certainly open up the options quite a bit. Another option is the aforementioned tartan flashes (only in the same tartan as the kilt please).
I have seen several pictures where some have worn flashes of a completely different color, often red. While I didn't think the combination looked awful, I much prefer to keep the flash color coordinated with the kilt.

I do have tartan flashes in the same tartan. These are the ones that disappear. I have looked for yellow, but don't see it offered any place I've been. I've started haunting thrift stores to look for a woman's worsted skirt in yellow that I can cannibalize. Lots of red and grey shades, but so far no yellow.

I recommend getting oatmeal hose rather than off white.

The Scottish Tartans Museum has them. Just look at the bottom of this page:

Turpin I don't think you've got a whole lotta choice there. Yellow as already pointed out is the obvious one but you could try the green from the Gordon Mod. It'd work with charcoal or navy. But then if you're getting the green/off white, which sounds excellent btw, I'd go with the yellow for a change of scene.

Matt does keep a good selection of products. He doesn't always have what you want on hand (it is a small place), but he can get it pretty quickly. I've been very pleased with what he sells. I've got one of his box pleat kilts too.
