Custom Kilt Hose from piperdbh
One of the great pleasures of this forum, in my opinion, is getting to know the artist and artisans who have so much to share of their skills and talents.
Today I would like to showcase the work of our piperdbh who created the custom kilt hose below. The quality and workmanship is excellent. I exchanged a custom sporran with a design he chose for these. He sent me samples of the thread and I selected the colors that seemed to go best with the Hay Modern Tartan shown in the pictures.
Without further ado, let me show you what he created:

I'm thinking traditional garter ties in gold would be the best option. For today I just used my standard elastic red ones. The hose have not been washed yet either, so they are a little baggy arounf the foot and ankle, but that will change.
Look at how detailed the work is around the transition from leg to foot!
I'm very impressed by David's work and look forward to wearing these hose on special occasions.
Thanks piperdbh!
Tom

Those really are something, I would say they should be used for special occasions only. The talent on the site really amazes me sometimes.

whoah they look great!
I'd really link a pair for my Ancient Campbell... black with a green fold. How much did they set you back? The craftsmenship looks amazing with detail so I'm sure anything would be acceptable to pay!

I traded him a custom made sporran for the hose.
But yes, for the quality of workmanship and attention to detail (and the time required to make them) they might be expensive.
He was great to work with, too.

Very nice!
One of the things I appreciate about the artisans here is that they allow me to express my personal flair through their creativity. I am all thumbs and now mostly blind as a bat.
So thanks to all you folks that make it possible for us common folk to shine!

I've seen quite a few pairs and these look best as they seem thick and comfortable. I'll enquire but might have to resort to somewhere more local for a better price.
