Dragnet Kilt Pin
I was thinking of getting the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Tartan,
otherwise known as the Police Tartan, and I even have a special kilt pin that I think would do the tartan and what it stands for good, it’s a miniature replica badge from the TV show Dragnet, a show I practically grew up on, that and 1 Adam-12.

The badge is 1 ¾ long and is heavy enough to keep the kilt in place, as opposed to the adjacent kilt pin, which measures 4 inches long, any thoughts on the size or anything else.

Looks to me like an interesting version of a kilt pin, and one which would definately invite a story to be told. Are you retired from the force?

I think it will work wonderfully.

Not an officer.
No, I am not a police officer , active duty Army. I plan on working as a police officer or sheriff deputy upon my retirement. I do have my Masters degree in criminal justice, and I just thought it would be an honor to the law enforcement community if I used that as a kilt pin.

I agree that's very cool. My Dad and Granddad were both LEO's. I think they would be honored.

For St. Paddy's Day I used a Garda Hat badge as a kilt pin with some orange, white and green felt behind it.
Looked good.

A Little Known Fact
Jack Webb, creator, producer, occasional director, and star of the radio & television series DRAGNET was a reserve LAPD officer. His rank was Sergeant, and his badge number? You guessed it. 714.

My goodness, but this list is filled with people with the most amazing information. Thanks MoR, I did not know that. I too grew up on Dragnet. I think it is where I get my love of the 'roman policier' from...that and reading Agatha Christie at 12.

Jack Webb
I knew that about Jack Webb, and if LA was not so polluted, crowded, etc., I would go back and do what I started some twenty plus years ago.
I took the LAPD’s written exam, passed, and did well on the oral boards, scored an 85, but I did not speak a second language, and had no college. In the long run, it’s been a blessing, because I will retire from the Army September 2009 and head to Boise Idaho to apply for the Ada County Sheriff’s department.
