Re: Dress sporran from Harold
Hmmm...I remember asking the forum if anyone had done a sporran out of nutria a couple of years ago...and there's the answer. If you wait around long enough...
Very nice. I'd heard that it was considered a good thing to take the nutrias (nutriae?) out of circulation as they're major pests...looks like the bright side is that they make lovely sporrans. Like the way it opens.
Sure to get some positive comments on Burns Night!
Best

Jim,
Thank you for the kind review. It was a fun project, and it was a little interesting to come up with something that met your criteria.
The front and back are both two layers of cow hide thick. This gives it stiffness and still allows it to flex and move. This also means that it should last for a really long time!
I hope you enjoy it and remember we need to see pictures when you wear it!

Great looking sporran and a clever choice of material. Was the nutria a fellow Texan?

Hehehe... sounds about right. I've seen those things in the wild; they might have nice fir, but man, are they ugly creatures. The unholy offspring of a rat and a beaver, I'd say.
