I think there's nothing wrong with wearing hose and flashes with a casual or modern styled kilt. I wear my ACU pattern kilt with pulled up OD green boot socks and have a set of matching ACU fabric flashes to go with it.

Man that would be cool. ACU Flashes.

Yes. I wear mine when I dress up for church wearing either of my utilikilts.

Actually, I do, yes. I have 2 pairs of hose cuffs- one from Flamingo Kilts and one from our very own Big Mikey. Those make enough of a statement on their own, so if I wear the cuffs, I do pull the flashes off of the garters. As to wearing flashes with casual kilts- I wear my Amerikilt with black hose, white shirt and Dress MacLeod tie and flashes all the time. I really like the look to be honest. It looks good with a black waistcoat, too. So there you are- some ideas for you!

I usually forget them, except on the most formal of occasions. I do like their look but have never depended on them to hold up my kilt hose.

I very often will. To my (non-Scottish) opinion flashes are too much for most kinds of casual kilt wearing.
