garter tie dimensions
I just received a great looking pair of handwoven garter ties I found on Etsy. I've never worn traditional garters before and I'm wondering about the size of the new ties I have. The woven portion is 38" long plus an additional 3.5" of fringe on each end. The garters are 1.25" wide.
When I tie them on they make quite a bulge on the side of my calf and the fringe seems to hang down awful low. Should I trim the fringe? Did I buy garters from someone who didn't know what size to actually make them?

Indeed, I used your handy video...and then the even handier alternative directions. The second way produced a smaller bump, but I just wasn't sure about the over all dimensions.

I'm no expert, but they do sound a little long. The measurements I've seen from several other places say they're about a yard long including the fringe/tassels. If yours are 38" long PLUS the tassels, they might be made for people with extra-thick legs.

Dang. Can someone with a pair of garters handy take a few quick measurements for me? I'd really appreciate it!

Maybe some photos would help.
The problem in answering your question is it depends on your calf measurement. I make my own garter ties to fit me but they would probably be too long for most.
The 3 1/2" fringe does sound long.
I would post some pics to get some feedback before I did any cutting though.
