All's well as ends well
I received my balmoral yesterday afternoon.
The color was exactly as shown and as far as quality it seems well made with a quilted liner and sturdy seams. I found it interesting that the cockade was on the left side. My glengarry from Sport Kilt has the cockade on the right. I sent a quick PM to cajunscot and he assured me that the left was entirely appropriate for most regiments.
I will say that I feel $41 for this hat and shipping was a very good value and I would recommend Ian's products. A little over 3 weeks was certainly not unreasonable time to wait for a good hat. My only complaint was a complete lack of communication from, Ian but I note that this may have been a very stressful time for him and may not be a true representation of his normal customer service.
I certainly imagine the next time I need another hat (somewhere in the distance my beloved Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess is saying "Another hat?") I will order again from Glengarryhats.com.
Here are a few pictures:

I'm leaving the ribbons loose for now which may be to show my dashing swashbuckling nature or may be indicative of a certain amount of laziness.
You decide.
Cheers
Jamie

Looks good, I like how you have matched your balmoral, shirt and a stripe on the Royal Stewart. One day I just might have to order from them.

Great looking balmoral Jamie and thanks for the mini review. I'm glad your adventure is finally over - but the big question is, will you order from them again?
I have a nice Scottish made balmoral but I'm thinking of picking up a second color - I love wearing these things.

this is gonna sound very frivolous and may even embarass you (men tend to not care so much about these things) but in that second picture...the blue hat and blue shirt make your eyes stand out more.

Do they? What a happy accident.

I'm sure I will. It would be nice to have a tan or khaki hat for earthtone outfits .

I'm sure I never would have given that any consideration.

Just as an update to my post on this thread, my badges had arrived while I was on vacation. I am very happy with them.
Panache, I agree that the balmoral in that colour suits you very well! To add a comment on the cockade question, FWIW, I've owned three balmorals and three glengarries (one of each were Canadian Forces issue and the others were all from different suppliers) and all six came with the cockade on the left side.

The only problem I've had is remembering to use my other hand when I tip my bonnet to the ladies.
