HELP! I'm Color Blind and Fashion Challanged!

Like most males in my family, I am color blind (colour for our Canadian and UK brothers ) and am seeking advice from my counterparts on coordinating hose and flashes for a Black Watch kilt.

Question: what recommendations are out there for hose and flash color to match a Black Watch kilt? I wear the kilt with black shoes; have a black belt and a black sporran also.

For daywear / casual, I generally have a turtleneck, polo shirt or t-shirt with boots and rolled down socks. What I need is something a bit more formal / semi dress, and thus the question.

If you are as colorblind as I am, then you know exactly the frustration I feel when trying to coordinate colors, especially from a tiny web site picture.

    Thanks in advance....

You can ALWAYS get a pair of Blackwatch flashes and never need to worry about it!

You can also tag a pair of green hose with an "X" on the elastic, and the blue ones with an "O".

Jimmy ... thanks for the info, I never thought about the Black Watch flashes, for some reason I kept thinking 'solid'.

I wear either off-white or dark blue hose with bright red flashes (see my gallery).

    hose colour...

You can't go wrong wi' Oatmeal hose!

As far as flashes, the Black Watch wear red ones. Nice contrast.

    Cheers,

    Todd

philibeg - awesome flashes in your gallery ... did you make them yourself?

Todd - Great advice as always. And the old smack in me head for "Why didn't I think of that!"

Order has been placed! Oatmeal hose, red flashes!

    hose kilt

Good choice. That's what I have for my Drummond kilt - oatmeal hose and red flashes. You really can't go wrong. Very smart look.

    Black Watch...

I would be remiss in not correcting myself: The Black Watch wear olive-coloured hose with red flashes, but I think they would work well with oatmeal as well.

    Cheers,

    Todd,

I have not seen olive coloured hose. Do you have a source?
Carry on as if you knew what you were doing, and you were in you're right state of mind.

    Hey Brian,

I didn't make my garters/flashes myself, I bought them in Scotland (and very expensive they were, too, for what they are!! ...why is Highland dress constantly subjected to such needless mark-up????), but you can make them easily yourself, just look for slightly stretchy, broad (to prevent circulation problems) cloth ribbon...they keep yer socks up very efficiently and have an old-fashioned, pre-elastic-plastic feel about them... I'm an old-fashioned kinda guy! sort-of...
