    Homemade Sandals

I was searching for prices on sandals when I found this site on making tire sandals. I figure it's at least good for a laugh or two. We can make almost all of our outfits by hand. Why not add footwear to the list?

Using the Smoke and Fire pattern for ghillies, one could make tire ghillies!

If one could figure out how to glue leather to the rubber, one could make some decent looking leather sandals/ghillies with a good sole.

Actually, in southeastern asian nations, such as Vietnam, they wear sandals made from old tires.

It's a great idea, so who's going to be the first to try to make a pair?

Can anyone come up with a pattern for DIY Ghillie Brogues?

Oh my mind boggles at the memories of "Ho Chi Mihn Sandals". The best tires to use were jeep tires so you couldn't be tracked by some distinctive tread.

Super easy to make. 10,000miles per pair. And if you play with the pattern of placement of the inner tube straps these can be quite attractive. Goodyear logo and all.

Beware the steel lined tires though. Cutting out the sole with a torch can really mess up your day.

The soles of my motorcycle boots are good up to 120 MPH.

I could only get slick soled ones and in the snow I was lacking traction - so they got resoled with a damaged tyre - so I can not only walk tall now, I can ride a bike which is higher from the ground.

    New shoes

I was wondering what I should do with my old tires! No, this is really a good idea, thanks.
