House of Cheviot Bowmore Hose: Dunadd Trading Co

Our own Redshank strikes again with a good deal on another pair of House of Cheviot Bowmore hose---I just got mine a couple days ago and, despite the snow and cold weather here, decided to kilt up for work and wear them for the first time today. Redshank (Chris) sell these from his webpage for Dunadd Trading Company:

http://dunaddtradingcompany.co.uk/Co...yKiltHose.aspx

The Bowmores have the same thick foot and body with the colored checkerboard patterned top sewn on as the fold over. I got the Large size in Mustard and they fit great, and are more than long enough for even the tallest of kilties, so much so that so that I had to do a half hide turnover of excess body material to get the patterned top at the actual top instead of halfway back down my leg. Wore them today with my Maple Leaf Tank (thanks Barb T) in honor of the Olympics being in Canada and the Canadians trouncing the Russians in hockey last night, and the colors are a dead on match. Should be with my Forrester Modern kilt too. These hose are comparable in fit and finish to their other patterned top hose, the only exception being that the Bowmores are one of the varieties that do not include an old fashioned garter tie while several other Cheviot models do, at a higher pricepoint. Here's the pics:

I have Piper's hose, a couple pair of Cheviot Rannoch hose, and several pair of these Cheviot patterned top hose, along with a mess of other regular kilt hose, and two pairs of hand knit hose. The hand knits, at about three times the price, are undoubtedly the best overall, but of all the mass produced machine knit kilt/country/shooting hose I have tried I do not think you can beat the Cheviots for overall build and quality. Just one man's opinion.

Chris (Redshank) has been great to work with, ships fast, and includes international shipping in his prices. Next on my wish list is one of his Mackie bonnets----soon, very soon.

(No my kilt is not too low---I had to bend way over to shoot these myself which drove my apron down a bit in front for the front shot and the pleats down a bit in the back for the rear shot. Apologies to MacORath for not shining my shoes but there was a couple inches of snow in the driveway when I left the house this morning.)

Wow, that's a very nice look! Wouldn't have thought to put it together myself, but it really works.

I really like those, I'll have to order a pair or two soon, I also like the balmorals maybe if I get one of those Chris will stop bugging me about my blue one.

Navy Blue w/ matching dicing was the color I was hankerin' for in a balmoral---I hope Chris doesn't have some specific disdain for that color.

No not at all, it's just a long standing joke that Glenn and I have, we always make a snide dig at each others headwear, it's said and taken all in good spirits.
