    How do you tie your Garter ties

    Hey all,

    How do you tie your garter ties? I have been doing it like they show on the tartan Museum website. Is thier another way? Any tricks or suggestions?

    I use a clove hitch, approximately. The last "tuck" goes under both the starting end, and the wrapped middle section.

    Another way is to wrap around twice, tie an overhand knot, and tuck the ends beneath the center wrap...

    Fiddled with it and have come to use the wrap around, overhand single knot, tuck under.

    Never a problem with it, even on long days.

    Here's my usual method. Make a right-angle fold.


    Wrap once

    Wrap a second time, tuck upward underneath the previous 2 layers. This makes a second right-angle fold.

    Let it hang down.


    fold the cuff


    Adjust seasoning.


    For comparison, the classical clove hitch.
