Smile How my sporran saved my love life

Picture a sunny afternoon, birds singing and all that sort of thing.

Zeus, a 120 lbs rotweiller was laying in the sun snoozing. Zeus and I have been friends fo nearly a year now, so I decided to say hello.

So knowing that one doesn't wake a dog suddenly, I scuff my shoes while calling his name.
My friend wakes with a mild start, takes a couple steps towards me and lunges with an earth rumbling "woof!"
I start to backpedal as he lunges. Teeth bared he still comes at me, grabs my sporran (A SWK nylon) gives a tug and pulls it off me shaking his head violently.
After about eight or so shakes he drops it and looks at me as if to say, "Oh, it's you." and sits at my feet waiting to be petted.
Both dog and sporran are doing well.(Tho I did have to rebend the hook that let go.)

It retrospect I prefer to think that he was protecting me from that tassled thing that was attacking my dangly bits.

I can just see it now, luckly for me our husky Niko has never attacked my sporran.

    David,
That is an interesting turn of a phrase. Might I enquire as to it's origin?
