    hypothetically speaking....

We all know that kilts are like potato chips (crisps)... once you get started.... Anyway, if you suddenly found yourself with adequate funds to indulge yourself, what kilt(s) and accessories would you buy?

    just curious.

Hey Blu, this is like dreaming of winning the lottery, not fair and very painful!!

However, let me play your game....

I'd buy more kilts, several jackets, maybe even a leather kilt or two, a couple of dirks and William Wallaces claymore from Stirling (if the yanks have returned it yet).

Maybe I'd just look at Hamish's wardrobe (closet) and say "I'll have that please"!

I'd get 2 tanks, one in MacNeil of Barra and one in Hamilton tartans, A Braemar jacket in black barathea and a Harris tweed Argyl jacket. Add more kilt hose, several belts of different types and finally 4 poly vis kilts just for everyday chores. Almost forgot, waistcoats to go with the jackets.

That's roughly 1/4 million bucks worth of kilt! You'd probably need an addition to you house to put them in!

Well, considering I already have a black argyl, a lovat blue tweed, a prince charlie with vest, and a sherrifmuir jacket, I am pretty set there. I would probably get a lovat green, and probably a gray tweed, plus several different colored waistcoats, good for dressing up in the warmer months when a jacket is too much. I already have a nice dress sporran, two semi-dress sporrans, and one steer hide day sporran. I would get the wolf's full mask sporran from Cragggie. I would probably get a second MacLeod of Harris kilt, plus kilts in MacLeod of Lewis in support of my Lewis cousins since their tartan gets picked on so much, the "Loud MacLeod". Well, we always say, when you are as ruthless as a MacLeod, you can wear whatever the heck you want to. Then I would get a kilt in the Confederate Memorial Tartan.

    OK, I'll play.

First purchase would be a full Formal rig, Prince Charlie Coatee and vest, ghilli brogues, silver Masonic Crest dress Sporran, Heavy-weight 8-yard kilt in Grand Lodge of Scotland Tartan, Matching flashes. Masonic Crest sgian dhu, Black Balmoral with white cockade and Masonic Crest badge, Kilt belt with Masonic Buckle, Masonic Crested Kilt hose.

Second purchase - Black Argyll jacket, Medium weight wool MacDonald, off-white kilt hose, MacDonald tartan flashes, Black Belt with MacDonald Crest buckle, Black Rob Roy sporran, black balmoral w/ MacDonald Crest badge.

Third purchase - Confederate Memorial tartan kilt in medium wool, charcoal Argyll jacket, Kilt belt with Confederate Great Seal, Rob Roy Sporran, Black Military Beret with white cockade and Clan Cameron of Lochiel Badge. A custom made Tipi Knifeworks sgian dhu.

Fourth through thirtieth - a selection of USAKilts Traditionals, and BearKilts Classic Cut kilts in several tartans, in addition, I'd want a British Tan, and Saffron leather kilt from "R "kilts, also a selection of solid colored kilts from Pittsburg Kilts and AmeriKilts.

After that I could concentrate on shoes, boots, hose, bonnets, and shirts to co-ordinate the kilts. I'd probably need to hire Hamish and Matt to come help co-ordinate all the colors.

With airfare and hire of experts added, this could indeed become an expensive habit.

A full formal ensemble with Montrose doublet and all accessories, with the sgian and dirk being made by a good friend of mine who's a bladesmith.

2 tanks, one in Black Stewart, the other in MacBeth Ancient. (More tanks may follow after getting everything else on the list.)

A black kilt suit coat and vest.

A grey pinstripe 3-piece kilt suit.

    Three more UK Mockers

    One more UK Workmans

    Four more standard PKs

    Three lined PKs

That'll get me started, at any rate

Gosh, I have to say I'd like to get a few Argyll Jackets and a couple new sporrans. (One for daywear and one for formal occassions and church).

I'd love to try out the Utilikilt mocker, which looks very well made, a Pittsburgh Kilt, and another Amerikilt, also throw in a Leather Kilt of some sort. I'd also like to get Several more 8 yard kilts in family tartans and some 4 yard kilts in Buchanan, McDonald Lord of the Isles, McFarlane, Menzies, Stewart Black, and Stewart Green, McMillian Dress, and McFarlane (mission: convince Andrea to make all these kilts. . I'd like to try an 8 yard Bear Kilt in Graham of Mentieth.

And that would satisfy my greed.
