    I am very impressed!

When I was in the military, many years ago, the axiom was to praise publicly and criticize privately. Therefore:

I know it will come as no shock to the fine folk on this board, but I am very impressed by Mr. Turpin Ballard of Thorfinn Custom Sporrans!

I'm still waiting on my kilt; will be for a while yet, like as not. In the meanwhile, I've been amusing myself with finding appropriate accessories. I decided that I'd like a simple, brown sporran for casual/day use. After reading a lot of nice things about Mr. Ballard, and viewing his website, I decided to contact him about purchasing a sporran. He was gracious and helpful in his e-mail back to me, and I decided to order a simple, unembellished sporran in mahogany-colored buffalo hide.

I sent the necessary funds via Paypal and prepared to wait; after all anyone knows quality takes time. This was on 05/29/2008.

Today, by my count 9 days later, I received this in the mail:

I am quite pleased, both by the quality of the work, and the very rapid delivery.

Thank you, Turpin Ballard! You have made my day!

Beauty! Buffalo hide is an excellent choice in leather -- soft and supple yet tough as nails. I have a pair of gauntlets in buffalo hide that I've worn on the motorcycle in all weathers since 1995. Worn out the stitching three or four times, but the leather is still in great shape.

That is a very nice sporran. Congratulations!

(And is Turpin also using the flying squirrel delivery service? Only 9 days?! )

It's a honey. I especially like the Tibetan style beads. Nice mix of cultures.
