I bought a new flat cap today.

A nice, heavy, gray herringbone tweed one with fold-out earflaps for the cold winters around here. I might just wear it with a kilt just because I can.

I bought it from an old-style clothing store in my town. The tag inside says it was manufactured by Broner. www.broner.com

It has a quilted lining, too. I'm gonna love this thing.

    Bib,

Both my son and friend Richard (way2fractious) have one of those flap flat caps (say that 5 times quickly) and love them.

    Cheers

I'd love to see pictures of it. I'm a real sissy when it comes to cold weather, and have been looking for a good cap with earflaps that doesn't look ridiculous.*

How much did your flat cap cost, if you don't mind my asking?

*If I want to look ridiculous, I'll just wear a ushanka with my kilt!

I am sorely tempted to buy a tweed Bugatti cap for days like today (7 º F)

I've got one of those too! I bought mine about a month ago at a COLD festival. It sure is great to keep your ears warm (even tho I think it looks a bit hokey with the flaps down). Mine is the gray London Ascot. See link: http://www.broner.com/retailnewcontemporary.html

I found THIS link for a Broner flatcap with earflaps. It's a bit sketchy in that they don't have a way to select a size or color. I will continue to delve through these here Interwebs...

I was thinking about a Jamaican felt pork-pie hat with my kilt. I can't make up my mind, black or grey ? Alternatively, an American felt pork-pie, worn Italian-style with rim-up all round and tilted to the front a la "Bronx Story"

I finally got around to taking pics. Please forgive the lousy self-photography.
