I wish it was winter again...

    Hi, gang,

My...surface post from Wales is getting pretty fast. Two months ago, I won a whopper on eBay UK - a Harris Tweed Inverness Cape. It just arrived, and it's a real beauty. No photos yet, but I'll do that after I get it dry cleaned and the packing wrinkles are gone. Mid green HT and fully lined in tan satin. The green is a bit darker than Lovat but not as dark as bottle green. With the postage, the whole cost was about $60. Something tells me this was a VERY good deal.

If it's in even semi-good shape, yes, you got a very good deal!!! Every time I watch one, it jumps up to $300+ at the last minute.

Yeah, I've been one myself. I've also been in at the last 3 seconds, only to see the final list of bids record two more after me!!

It is the only major problem with the ebay model. With a timed auction, it is both good and bad that you can get a bid in at the last second in efforts to get a great deal. good because you may get a really sweet deal. Bad because it is fairly simple for someone to force the final price up just to make more money.

it is a double-edged claymore, this one.

Well, it's not a Harris tweed, but I won an Inverness today, and it didn't even get pushed, I bid against someone two hours before close, and then left the house.

At least I have a suitable rain coat now.

That's a great find, Iolaus. If I thought I'd get enough use out of one to make it worthwhile, I'd grab one like that in a heartbeat.

I suppose I could wear it in the rain when NOT kilted, too...
