If You Own a Leatherneck Tartan Kilt You Need this Ka-Bar Sgian Dubh

Its really a letter opener - but its sturdy and all you wanna show is the handle anyway. Not clear if it comes with a sheath, but even if it doesn't its easy to use another sheath.

No sgian dubh goes better with the Leatherneck tartan than a mini Ka-Bar.

I have one myself that I wear with my Leatherneck. I think I got it through Amazon, but Sgt. Grit now sells them too. Around 11 bucks or something like that. They do not come with a sheath. I picked up a standard Tandy sheath kit long ago to make one for it, but never seem to get around to doing it.

I can tell you that wearing it without a sheath leaves a very nice miniature Kabar tattoo on your calf for a couple of days. Not sure what the finish is, but it does transfer to skin. It's worth it though for the terribly awesome look!

Entire length is 7 1/2" you can extrapolate from there. Here's mine with some other sgian dubhs so you can see the length is right.

Those are great Ron. I have one that a fellow XMarker and Marine sold me in Palm Springs for $20. At the time I had not seen them in a catalog before and thought that was a good price. It wasn't but I still think I got a good deal. I am proud to wear the Leatherneck tartan and the k-bar.

I paid $50 for mine at a highland games - but it was in a nice sheath with the EGA embossed on it. At the time I "had" to have it - so bought it. I wear it often so even at the high price I feel the value is there.

Nice! I also like the garter ties, are they home-made?

    Cheers,

Aye, home made, but not by me. They were made as a gift (how cool!) by a grizzled Marine top kick who used to be an active member of this forum until he ran afoul of the rules.

The image of this old Marine knitting garter ties cracks me up - sorta like huge football linemen knitting...

Kilts do bring out our artistic side and turn many of the fold into craftsmen.

    Very cool, indeed!

The image, at least that which I have in my mind, is certainly amusing

    Cheers,
