KILT APRONS- A PRACTICAL - Puffer

A short time ago We talked about Kilt Aprons & how "practical" they were.

Last weekend I gave mine a "True" work out.
I was KILTED & evolved in "training" NRA Instructors.(BP/ML & modern.) & "exploring" the surrounding "terrain"
    1. On the "RANGE", the Apron Kept my Kilt "clean". ( Dirt ( reg. + demonstrating positions ( Prone, sitting ) & BP residue etc)

    2. Exploring the the beautiful terrain ( woods & foliage) The apron, protected my kilt from Snags etc.

Because the Apron has a "pocket" & I carried a "satchel" I did not wear a sporran ( Note- neither did the Regiments)

Results = Clean Kilt & filthy apron

The apron also assisted in "modesty" ( We had females in our classes)

    All in ALL IT WORKED.

Here is a pic of mine. The left pic is it "fastened up & the Right is opened to show one of the kilts I wore.

Thank you for sharing this with us, sir. I have often wondered how a kilt apron would work out. Hobby tools seem to have a habit of tumbling out of my grasp and I've largely been afraid to try hobby work kilted as a result. I believe I've paid lifetime dues to clan clumsy. This looks like a great idea!

I can't look at the pictures. Do those things cover the whole kilt, and, if so, do they have some kind of pleating to them?

    Thanks.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Ted, There are 2 "Basic styles"

!/2 Apron = covers The front of the kilt

Full Apron = Wraps all the way around. Some are "pleated such as the one WPG sometimes offers.

If you want pix EMAIL ME & I will send some.

That is a good idea for sure, it appears to do the job well. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I'm going to need one of those with us heading into barbecue season... don't want spills (or embers!!) landing on my kilt!! Great pictures, Puffer... that's definitely a practical, must-have for my list.

This is a great idea. What do you think? I would like one for when I go to the gatherings after the games or when having a nice meal at the games. I want to keep Rockey clean. (my sporan...remember) I have answered the two questions that were asked regarding the wood the handles are made of. Thanks for posting the pics.

I think it would be GREAT. I wear mine often for the same reasons.
    1. 1/2 apron = Eating in enviorments where the "seating is "clean". ( even @ home) (It rolls up SMALL)
    2. Full apron = Where the seating is iffy.

Note on Sporran - These can be won with a sporran, but most often not.( the regiments usually did not wear their sporans except in "garrison" or "dress") I carry a canvas"Shoulder bag" ( the apron is rolled up in it) When I wear the apron, I usually ( not always) remove my sporran, stow it in the bag & put what I need in the Apron pocket
