    Yes, the super magnet is a good idea. I just converted an old Canadian Military Postal Service hat badge to a kilt pin using magnets. I'll be trying it out at the Seattle English Country Ball on Saturday. If successful, I will continue to keep my eyes open for 'convertable' decorations--and the best supermagnets.
